It is pretty nice, I played with one and shot some rounds down range with it and it seem to fill the job nicely. it is a nice concept and will work well for combat mission that might require some magification is a hurry. I don't have a price yet but it is definitely worth the wait.

What I'm not clear on on this thing, is will it function kind of like an ACOG, w/ CQB AND precision depending on how you focus your eyes, or is it just functional as a magnified optic? I'm just having trouble picturing how this thing works.

AFAIK, the magnifier should work with all models of the EOTech. The only new model of EO I know of is one with a reticle with BDC. |

The magnifier lens is just that, an add on lens and mount that's placed behind the EOTech and gives you 3.75x magnification. Other than the magnification the EOTech should function the same at close ranges. It's not exactly BAC but it should work just as good plus give you the ability to remove magnification as needed. I don't believe you can co-witness with the magnifier lens since it will most likely hang over the BUIS. The magnifier lens will need to be rmoved t deploy the BUIS. |

These statements are correct. Think of the EOTech magnification system as a mini ACOG. You will have to use a flip up BUIS to get underneath it.. C4 |

How does the magnification affect the reticle image when the 3.75x lens is placed behind the sight ? Does it appear 3.75x larger
 I guess by transforming it into a magnified sight (ala ACOG) instead of a CBQ sight, the field of view will substantially decrease as well

Here's some answers that EOTech gave me. I was wondering if you've had the chance to play with one yet? I would be interested in knowing how the magnification affects the sight picture. The target scene and the ring are blown up 3.75 times but the dot size remains the same. i.e. the effective dot size is 1 inch at 375 yds. Also, the FOV of the scope is at least 25% larger than the ACOG. Specifically how well the reticle looks through the lens and what, if any, parallax issues it might have. The magnifying scope does not introduce any additional parallax error but parallax error in the sight becomes more obvious. That is because moving the eye off center by 2mm with the scope is equivalent to moving the eye 11.25 mm off center without the scope. We are upgrading the production alignment setup to produce sights with essentially no parallax error over the entire sight window to go with the scope. In addition, we plan to produce a reticle with multiple aiming dots (0-300m, 400m, 500m, 600m) for the M-4. Also, I'm curious why 3.75X was chosen instead of 4X. The Trijicon is 4X and the Elcan is 3.4 X. . We chose 3.75X which is mid way between the two to make it easy for users of those scopes to switch over to ours. The magnification is not far off either. Maybe Grant,since he has actually used one  , can fill in more details about the how the reticle and sight picture is effected by the 3.75x magnification. |

I can say for certain that the EOTech magnification system will work in conjunction with the LaRue EOTech mount. There will most likely be another mount if you just want to mount it directly onto your flattop... C4 |

Pure Speculation on my part:
LaRue is working on a folding rear BUIS. In my mind they have to be. They just put out a mount (fist on the market) that will accomodate both of these products (Eotech and Magnifier) and they will effectively push thier fixed rear sight into the background. Sure there will still be a solid market for dedicated CQB rifles, but for most people the flexibility will be too much to pass up. This configuration won't allow for the fixed BUIS. The reason I think this... LaRue seems to be an innovative and forward thinking company. I doubt very seriously that they'll sit on their hands. Damn! And I just asked Grant to to put me on the list for the Troy rear FBS. To be sure that people are not confused, I HAVE NO AFFILIATION WITH LARUE OR EOTECH. I'm just an AR enthusiast who loves all the inovation in the market today. I CAN'T MAKE MONEY FAST ENOUGH TO KEEP UP WITH ALL THE INOVATION!!!

i am not Grant, but EOTech has no plans on making those reticle at this time. They are knee deep in production and also trying to get the new magnifier out on the market. |

Lets just hope this is more funciotnal than the 2x magnifier of the old Bushnell Holosight. That was positively, the most useless gadget I've ever laid my hands on. FOV was tiny and the view was extremely distorted. I love the idea, but the execution was certainly lacking. How will this new one be different than the onld one?

tjhe optic quality will be good to excellent, last I heard it is on par with the clarity of the ACOG. since it is a 3x magnifier, it will be like mounting a compact ACOG behind the EOTech only the magnifier will use the EOTech reticle. With Laser projection reticle, the magnified reticle will not change in size.
Grant, i am hoping the thing will be out before X-mas. I can only hope. |

not too sure about the eye relief, it is all still under development. As far as Rev G, there is no such model under consideration. there are the SOPMOD2 units that are being finalized those feature may or may not be pass down to the civilian market as the next Rev. |

i'll be extremely suprised if eotech can acually pull this 3.75x thing off...
hope to God were not going to have a aimpoint 2x all over again... hopefully eotech will get to where they need to be.... make a product better than the aimpoint until you start attacking the acog, elcan market... the idea looks good on paper... (just like a normall eotech) will they perform?

I can't wait to put this new Eothing up against whatever new product Aimpoint has up there sleeves. Not to start a E vs. A thing, but from Boom's thread Aimpoint is going to have some new and innovative thing coming out also, but that's about all we know.

Damn, how many of the plastic housings have you guys broke? You guys must be tough on your EOTechs... Chen, I'm a bit slow so please explain how the reticle doesn't change in size when using the 3.75x magnifier. How does the laser projector compensate for the magnification?

From my understanding of the optic - the actual dot in the middle is cloer to 1/3 of a MOA than a 1 moa dot. Normally you're eyes have a resoultion around 1 moa, but the dot is bright enough so your eye can pick it up. Magnify a 1/3 moa dot by 3 and you get a 1 moa dot. Your eye will perceive it to be the same size, but I'll bet the dot will be a bit dimmer (based on my experiments of mounting a monocular behind the EOTech). I can't wait!!!! |

The center dot of the EOTech is actually a 1/3MOA so the magnifier brings it to about 1MOA. You can fit a TROY or ARMS BUIS under it and it should have a QD capability. It does NOT mount directly to the the EOTech.... C4 |
