would like to mount an aimpoint ML2 with a carry handle mount ,are there any drawbacks with this type of mount .

It will work but it does sit kind of high.

Can you afford a new A3 upper??

This is your best bet with the A2 or A1 models:


Aimpoint is mounted in an ARMs #22M68 and it's attached to an ARMs #39A2 gooseneck, this places the Aimpoint at the correct height.

Most find the carry handle mounted Aimpoints too high for a decent cheek-weld, as mentioned above.

Swap the A2 for A3 flattop.
Your options will be much better and Life will be much simpler.
