I'm working up a review on the two piece GB and the flip-up that attaches to that GB. Now this is not a one piece like you are talking about, BUT this set up uses the same lockup and technology. So far I'm GTG as far as stability of the GB and FS.
It should go without saying that a one piece and pinning will be inherently stronger though. |

For that unit I put it on the barrel and snugged up the screws. I used a laser bore sighter to get mechanical zero with the sight. Looking through my rear BUIS with it centered, I drifted the sight over until it was centered with no rear windage. I then tighten one screw as much as I could and removed the other. I then used a drill bit to dimple the barrel in the area the set screw sits down into 1/16" or so deep, then applied red locktite the screw threads and tightened it. Repeated the same process for the second screw. Using this process the sight base will be as solid as if you were using taper pins.
I'm not sure if this is absolutely neccessary or not, but with this installation process I can be 100% sure the FSB isn't going anywhere. |

I have the one piece unit, it apears very solid, and I just cranked it down. I suppose a little loc-tite wouldn't hurt, but i'm not really worried it's gonna come loose. The Armalite gas block that I've got has the two screws at the bottom, and it sorta works like a clamp. Never had any trouble with that one, either.

I didn't dimple the barrel under the set screws on mine but it is LocTited. The dimples are cheap insurance, though I doubt it'll ever move. Mine has probably 1K rounds since it was installed with "0" problems.

I did the screw dimple barrel thing with the red Loctite. It's not going anywhere.
I put dimples in the barrel over a year ago on my SOG fake bird cage suppressor. Used red Loctite. The SOG comp has six set screws. Never has budged. |

I have the YHM gas block flip ups on two of my ARs that get hard use and neither has moved a bit. One is full auto and the barrel gets heated up real good. I use the set screw/loctite method and the dimple on full auto's. These very reasonably priced items are selling very well for us.

i would like to 2nd or 4th
 or...the dimple and locktite idea. YHM's 1st front sight for Bushmaster was the 3 rail gas block with the detachable flip up, and it is mounted the exact same way. |

the first couple of orders of these sights came with holes drill on one side of the FSB, if you wanted to drill. the last batch just got - did not have these holes
