Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Opinions on the leatherwood mount?

Anyone have a "Leatherwood" mount?  Do you like it or is it hype?  Are they compatible with your normal sights (ie: can you see through it)?

Look interesting but not sold on it yet.

Please let me know your opinion.

I really hate the added weight, it was a big part of why I switched to a flattop.

It does lock in pretty solidly and I had no problems with drifting zero. The big disadvantage is that you can't use your irons, which is why mine is now sitting in the parts bin.

Looked all over the 'net but couldn't find one that was "see thru".  Decided "screw it" and ordered one anyway.  I'll just mill out the top similar to my ARMS 39 so I can see through it and maybe add a few more slots while I'm at it.

Hopefully it won't be too weak after I mill it out.  Will post pics once it's in and done.
