Hey all.  Just wanted some opinions on a decent spotting scope in the $300 range.  I was thinking about the $99 Winchester one from Sportsman's Guide, but after checking out some cheap scopes at a local shop decided against it.  They just seem, well, cheap.  I looked at a Zeiss just for shits and giggles but couldn't afford the $1200+ price tag.  So, any suggestions?  This will pretty much be just for range work, usually 200 yards.

Thanks in advance, Jimmy.

In that price range I can recommend the Nikon Sky Earth 15-45X 60mm Spotter which runs about $290.

What do you guys think about the Leupold Wind River Sequoia 15-45x60?  I have a Leupold VARI-X III on my M1A and love it, I'm thinking that Leupold would also make an excellent spotting scope.

What's the magnification on that model?  Alot of sites only mention the 60mm obj.
I think this might get a bit pricey soon, lol.

Thanks, Jimmy.

If you read that Sniper Country review, the Bushnell spacemaster seems the clear price/performance winner.

I've seen the 20x45x60 model kit for $269 online.

I just finished reading the sniper country article, good read, but it says that it was written in 2001 so I would still like some feedback on the Sequoia.  The Kowa look nice also, but do you need to buy seperate eye pieces for them?  The ones I see online only mention the obj size.

Thanks, Jimmy
