I bought a 6x40 "Government Model" scope for my AR10 about 2 months ago. I had somewhere around 300 rounds through it before today, maybe less. After about another 100 rounds the reticles shifted, instead of the vertical reticle being at 12 and 6 it is now at 1 and 7. Since there is a level at the bottom you can tell easily that the reticles have moved, rather than scope.

It is a few years old from the literature that was in the box, but I did buy the scope new in box. Ah well maybe I can talk Springfield into trading me for something else since I doubt I am getting my money back and I am skeptical about getting another one of these.

Oh like I said the scope was purchased NIB had maybe 300 rounds through the rifle with it mounted and was used only at the range. It was not subject to any blows, dropped or anything else, other than riding around in the case in my truck and going to the range.

Well they were very nice, of course, and said to send it in as it was a problem they were familiar with. I guess we will see.

Good thing it's just me and not some guy heading off to Iraq intending to put it on a m14 or something.

As others have noted, this is an all-too-common problem.  The old 1st Gen Springfields were pretty good optics, but later models kept having "extra features" added, while at the same time lowering design/build quality to keep the prices down.  I know at least a dozen people who HAD Springfield scopes, and all of them NOW have Leupolds.  Exactly 0% would own a Springfield again.
