Really just starting to work into this zero and I like it very much. (Nice fellow, too. I had a question and got a very quick e-mail answer from the man himself.)

Trying to figure best approach for quickly applying the holdover in close range, using iron sights (A2 style on my M-forgery).

What SEEMS to work is to put tip of the front sight post on base of the "throat" on IDPA and othe manform targets when shooting anywhere from 25 yards back to room distances.

Any thoughts from those far wiser than I?

For COM shots - just shoot COM - you're only going to be off by 2.5" at CONTACT - at 25 yards it will only be off 1.2".  No need for holdover (and it will only slow you down).

For head shots I aim about 1" high at distances of 25 yards (or so) or closer.  With my 3x Compact ACOG that puts the tip of the triangle near the top of the head, with the EO Tech the dot is in the middle of the forehead (halfway between the eye plane and the top of the head).  That keeps the round in the 'credit card' sized area the Rany Caine & Gunsite targets look for.

Hmm, I was curious as to the holdover for the IBZ below 25 yds as well.........more so shooting things other than sillouettes at CM such as clay pigeons and bottles and objects lees than 6" tall or round...listening.

Guys at distances from 8M to 220M you don't need holdover if your target is 4" or taller with a center-of-mass sight picture; if the target is 5" or taller then the range is muzzle to 225M.

The holdover is needed for short ranges when the [b]target is less than 4" tall[/b].  A holdover of 1" allows you to hit targets that are 2" tall from muzzle to 50 yards.  The 'head shot' box is about 2" tall by 4" wide and as such you need the holdover at closer ranges.

Of course this assumes your shooting from a bench or prone (stabil shooting position).
