Hey guys,

Just was looking for opinions regarding sighting in distances for the ARMS 40 BUIS and ACOG TA31.

I was going to go with Santose's 50 meter IBSZ and 100 meter zero (per manual) for the TA31.

Does anyone else use this method?

Zero for TA31 sounds good.

The IBZ will work well for the ARMS #40 as long as you don't mind using the large aperture exclusively. If you flip to the small aperture, you will be way high with the large one set for the IBZ.

There are several ways to address this issue:

1) Get a same plane aperture for the ARMS #40.

2) Zero at 25m per military zero and the small aperture will be good for 300m.

3) Zero the small aperture for IBZ and flip apertures everytime you raise the sight.

1) Where can you get one of these?

2) Where does this leave the large aperature zeroed at?

Thanks!

I thought that the ARMS #40 had to be the cut aperature to fit up close with a TA31?

1) Any aperture that will fit an A2 sight will fit the ARMS sight*

2) http://www.adtdl.army.mil/cgi-bin/atdl.dll/fm/3-22.9/c05.htm#5_2

Note that the IBZ was created to address issues caused by the 25m zero. So you are trading one set of problems for another.

Unless you plan on using your irons for shooting at targets past 220yds, you are better off using the IBZ. With the large aperture set for IBZ, the small aperture on the ARMS #40 is set for about a 350m zero (estimated, no chance to fire it at that range w/ ARMS #40 yet)

* If you are using an ARMS #19 or #19S mount for the ACOG. The TA51 sits too low to use an uncut aperture.
