N battery or the AA setup. Which do you EOTech-ers prefer.

I like the N battery version strictly because it's smaller in over all length. Some perfer the AA version because of battery availability and compatibility with other equipment, I don't have a problem with tossing some back up N batteries in with my gear.

i have a set of electronic muffs that take N sized batteries so that is what i would get if i did get one.

i think the weight and size difference is minimal so if the above dosen't apply to you i would say get the AA.

If you get a weapon light it'll probably take N batteries anyway.

N batteries are what my EO Tech ate but my Surfire lights all take CR123 batteries which of course are not the same.

I am a fan of the 551. The reason is that it has a smaller foot print on your receiver, is lighter, is easier to navigate the controls with a BUIS and is CHEAPER than the 552.

I'll chime in and say AA. Longer battery life and available everywhere. They work in plenty of other stuff too. Around Christmas you can usually find a 48 pack for $10 or so, good for a 12 month supply.

I'll throw my .02 in. I like the AA version. Batteries are lot easier to find, are cheaper, and last longer. The extra length doesn't bother me.

I like the 551 because it's smaller. I don't have a problem finding N batteries. The Home Depot, Walgreens & Harris Teeter by my house all sell them (C4iGrant also sells them or dirt cheap too). Besides, all the AA batteries in my house are being used by the kids and probably only have about 5 minutes of life left in them...they wouldn't be a big help in a pinch [:D]

My main reason for going with the AA version is the battery life. I mount mine like SMGLee does, with the glass on the flattop and the battery compartment on the top rail of the RAS.

All the 'tac' lights I've seen take the type 123 battery.

Get the AA battery version - not much difference in weight and length. However, AA battereies are cheaper, far more common, and last much longer.

You can also use rechargable NiMH batteries...
