I'm interested in a Simmons ATV 4.5-14x40 for target shooting on my flat top SS 24" AR 1:8 varminter.  I'll be shooting mostly at 100 and 300 yds.  Is this scope a good choice and how about quality/reliability, etc.TIA

I don't know much about the Simmons scope that you listed, but Leupold would be a much better choice, if you can afford it. My knowledge of Simmons is that they are very low budget cheaply made optics.
