I think I found a great deal on an aimpoint ML2 and might just splerge but now I'm wondering if you can buy a sacrifical filter to keep the glass from getting scratched/cracked?  Something similar to what you put on the end of a 35mm camera.  Would one of the anti-flash shields work?  It seems like it would dim your image in the aimpoint and negate some of the posititive attributes you get with the aimpoint.

thanks for any help.

Aimpoint Killflash.  And yes, it cuts down on how much light gets through.  Or you could put on one of their polarizing filters.
