i like my iron sight quite a bit but id like some opinions on the low end non manified alteratives.
mainly low end red dot sights

or those heads up type ones like this


im under the understanding that both of these will eliminate the need for the the repeatable head postion (check weld, nose on charge handle) because they will both project the point of aim on the same point regardless of head position.

thats the only reason im interested in them, admitedly i wont be shooting at fast moving targets tactical or otherwise:) but can i expect these two alternatives to allow me to do away with the traditional one eye closed, head in same spot stance and still get as good or better results as my irons?
*please no pushes for the 500 dollar sights.i know they rule. but i cant spend much money on something to do the job of my irons:)

I think OKO red dot sights are pretty good, so are the Tasco ProPoint.  I'd avoid the el cheapo BSA ones.  Maybe you could do a little hunting around for a used Aimpoint, the previous generation can be found at very agreeable prices and will last you a long time even though it's used.

The OKO's are OK [;)], the Propoints are pretty good (but Tasco is no more, so no warranty or service), and you best bet might be a used Aimpoint Comp or Comp M.

I've got a tasco Pro Point on a Remington 870 slug gun and it's holding up well.

I've had a Tasco ProPoint for years and it still works great.  

As for cheap, look around and you can find some great deals.  When the Aimpoint M2 came out places were closing out their M-XD for ~$200.  That's a great quality sight for about the same as these cheaper sights.

they all provide parolex free sight right? just some are open to the air and some are inclosed.
now ive got to understand why the pricerange for these things goes from 50-500$ do the upper end models gain acuracy? or just durability?
