would somebody who uses an eotech setup mind posting a few pics of the sight picture in various degrees of light? also, how rugged are these things, really? they look a bit fragile.. i really need something for relatively short-range work (out to 200m or so, maybe slightly longer), and i'm looking for a good reason not to fork out the cash for an ACOG. thanks.

Dropped from a helio from 25m in the air by accident and survived, fragile, it is not.

The 2D reticel is the fastest reticle available on the market for close in work, at 25 yards you can just use the 65 MOA circle and pop chest size targets with speed.  for up to 200m it is a good reason not fork out the ACOG cash.  I regularly shot out to 300m at upper torso size steel with it.

Check this review by some idiot [:)] and if you have any further questions I will be more then glad to answer it for you.

Well, if I knew how to post pics I could.  Where do I find the FAQ for posting pics?

To allow others to see an image you first need to have your photo someplace on the web that can be viewed by the public (eg, AR15.com member photo area, your ISP home page or a free photo hosing service such as hunt101 this week (they tend to change).

Next copy the link info from the address bar in Internet Explorer (aka IE) to your clip board.  Which can be done by highlighting the address line and then pressing c to copy.

Next start a AR15.com posting/reply and enter the address by pressing p while in you reply / message.

To have the picture as a link you need to have a URL with brackets before and /URL after (see Board Code button on the top left for details) or to display an img replace the URL with IMG.

Without getting into details, EO Techs and ACOGs are different tools for different jobs and eventually you'll want both. I know I did so I bought both. [:)]

JTinIN, I tried to send you an IM.  I'm not sure if it made it. AR15.com is acting kinda slow.

223kid,

Here's a cut and paste of some pics I posted on another thread.

Here's also some simulated long range sight pictures.  Notice how the front sight tower blurs out.  At least for me it doesn't seem get in the way at all.

Sight picture at roughly 100 yards.

I zero'd mine at about 50yrds a couple weeks ago. Went out this weekend and was hitting a 7in gong at 179yrds w/ relative ease [:D]
Reticle is crisp, sight picture clear and a whole lotta fun to shoot! I'll definetly be seeing what I can do at longer ranges in about 2wks...can't wait!

wow, thanks for all the input guys. i put my order in today, and from the general consensus i don't think i'll be disappointed. as for the ACOG, maybe i'll need to put together a 20-incher in a few weeks..

Gener gets moved to the M1A W.T.F. I know a guy who thinks that Aimpoint would look good on his Armalite [;)] I have to find out about this on the web [BD].
