I just want to see a LOT of pics of peoples different scoped AR's. I just think Scoped AR's are very clean looking and what they look like with different Handguards. Plus I'm saving up for a new Leupold scope right now. This will be my motivation to save money instead of spending it on BS.
P.S. Please list what type of scope you have, handguards, tripod, and anything else you want to brag about. -William |

No, the barrels are not bent/curved, that's my wide angle lens and lack of anything resembling photographic skills. Top - Leupold Vari-X M3 LR Tactical with IR. Middle - ACOG TA11F on ARMS#19Short Bottom - Aimpoint ML2 Already bragged about all the accessories and parts elsewhere, but will say all the handguards/forearms are KAC's (top is RAS FF Long, middle is RAS II, bottom is RAS FF Short) Edited to add another picture, but also to note that yeah, I'm busted, those are my toes. I do have computer skill, but was just too lazy to crop that photo. Thought the rifles would distract the onlookers. Besides, after the money I spent at MSTN, I can no longer afford shoes, let alone socks. Thanks, Wes! [:D] The same Acog TA11F as seen on the other rifle, and KAC M5 RAS. One of the few rifles MSTN did not build for me, however, all the parts came from MSTN, just not the labor. Yeah, I like KAC products, but I do like certain SIR's and other systems, will prove it soon [;)] |

DUFFY,
A FEW DID PASS THROUGH HERE, IT SEEMS. I DO NOT KEEP REAL RECORDS OF SUCH, BUT AK-MIKE EASILY QUALIFIES AS ONE OF OUR TOP TWO INDIVIDUAL CUSTOMERS FOR 2003. AND 2002. THANKS, MIKE! OTHERS ARE REPRESENTED HERE, LIKE YOU AND LUMPY, AS WELL. SCOPES ARE FINE ON AR'S, BUT ONLY IF THEY WORK WITH THE OVERALL PACKAGE. FOR EXAMPLE, AN 8-40X TASCO VARMITER ISN'T THE OPTIMUM OPTIC FOR YOUR 14.5" UPPER. IT MIGHT BE GREAT ON A 20" HB GUN. OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER ARE THE TWO BASIC CRITERIA OF MOUNTING SCOPES: 1.EYE RELIEF IT'S TOUGH TO FIND A SCOPE WITH SHORT ENOUGH EYE RELIEF TO MOUNT DIRECTLY TO A FLAT TOP. THE LEUPOLD TS30A2 WAS DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS APPLICATION. HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE OUT SOON. LOOK FOR SOMETHING ALONG THESE LINES FROM NIGHTFORCE IN THE NEAR FUTURE, AS WELL. [INSERT HAPPY FACE HERE] I'VE BEEN ABLE TO [BARELY] ACCOMODATE A LEUPOLD LRM3 IN RINGS MOUNTED DIRECTLY TO THE RECEIVER BY GOING TO AN A2 LENGTH VLTOR STOCK. OTHERWISE, ONE MUST USE RAILS LIKE THE ARMS #36 OR THE #35 QD BASE AND RINGS TO GET CORRECT EYE RELIEF. 2. HEIGHT ABOVE THE COMB IF YOU MEASURE YOUR DETACHABLE CARRY HANDLE, YOU'LL FIND THE REAR APERTURE IS 1.4" ABOVE THE HEIGHT OF THE RECEIVER. THAT'S WHY FOLKS LIKE ARMS, BADGER, LEUPOLD MAKE RINGS APPROX THIS HEIGHT ON CENTER FOR FLAT TOP USE. I'VE USED KAC RINGS WITH GOOD RESULTS, 1.273" ON CENTER ABOVE THE RECEIVER, BUT THEY WERE DESIGNED FOR THE SR-25, WHICH, LIKE THE AR-10, HAVE ABOUT 1/8" MORE DROP TO THE COMB AND REQUIRE LOWER RINGS. AR10 A4 with a B&L 6-24x, scope gets used back and forth between the AR10 and a Bushmaster 20inch A3.
Eventually the rifle is going to have a 260Rem upper built for it with something along the lines of an 8.5-25 Leupold Long Range. I am hoping that ARMS is going to come out with an ARMS SIR handguard for the AR10 though as I really want one for that 308Win upper, the thing does right around 1 inch for 5 shots at 100 yards before the heat gets to it and the non-freefloated handguard starts making groups open up. Then there is "the pig" which was lovingly named such because of the way you have to carry it, weighing in at 15 pounds unloaded you wind up carrying it much like you'd carry a crew served weapon butt into your belt line with the muzzle high. At 48 inches long it's an imposing rifle... Very old picture, Newer picture after it's gone through some tweaks... 24 inches without muzzle brake.
It's got an additional 2-3 inches of stock length though over that of an A2 stock, for prone shooting the additional stock length really helps for getting a proper eye relief behind the Long Range line of Leupold scopes. The LR series has like a 5 inch eye relief. Plus the extra length in stock is suited well for me as I am 6ft 4 in tall, better for me to be a little long than a little short. |
