I'm a new AR-15 owner, I have a nightforce NXS 3.5-15+50 that I want to mount on a flat-top receiver, what would be the best type and brand of scope rings for this application. I was thinking of a one piece ring and base unit. This scope requires  a 30mm ring, thanks for all suggestions

Armalite sells a one piece scope mount. It's great  for what you have in mind.

Well, you really should consider the ARMS #22, in whatever height you need, as well as the Armalite.  The #22 are 30mm, but you can get inserts to drop it down to 1" should you ever need to.

ARMS guarantees these to return to zero when removed and re-attached...don't know about the Armalite.  Also, the Armalite mount is much bulkier, and probably heavier, if that's a consideration.

The Armalite's a great mount, though, I don't know anyone who has one that doesn't like it.

I have an ArmaLite mount for my M15A4 and have been very pleased with it.  I usually don't take my scopes off, but I've done it once or twice with the ArmaLite mount and it has been fine.

The ARMS#22 are nice but...

I like the #35 better for two reasons.

1) It allows me more room to more the scope forward than the #22's - eye relief is a real bitch on AR's (unless you have a ARMS sleeve)

2) The #35 is a one piece item which IMHO is a more robust system than the #22.

Not sayign I dont like the #22's (I do) I just find the #35 better for AR's

Engineer,
Good information, thanks for your input, I think the general opinion seems to favour Arms and Armalite,I'll probably go with one of their products. Thanks to all who offered assistance.

KevanB.

Does the Arms #35 come with different height rings?,It is a one piece mount with base and rings attached is this correct? I am a little confused, when I looked at their Web site, it looked like the mount and rings where separate items, maybe you could enlighten me, I'm suffering a brain freeze, thanks for clarification.

Gerry,

The ARMS has different height spacers.  The ring and mount are the same.

I am using the #35M (I think the #35H would have been better but...)

KevanB

Thanks for clarification, I think Arms #35H might be best way to go.
