Will the 'regular' eotechs/aimpoint not work at all with NVDs?

Why is that? Is the ret so bright it triggers the filter?

Exactly.  Even at the lowest setting, the standard (L) AimPoints will flare the NVD, which is designed to amplify light 20-30,000 times.

They will. And you will see a very bright reticle on the image tube.

However, the intensity of the light will burn a nice black hole on the tube permently.
