Was talking to one of the guys hwo is shooting some of the three gun matches.  

One of the "tricks" being done is to mount a red dot to the floating handguard tube just a little to the side of the scope.  To use at close ranges you tilt the AR a little to the side.  For all other ranges just use the Leaupold Tatical scope on the flat top.

While not as nice a the ACOG with a Doc Optics or a BAC ACOG, just costs the $6 for a Wearver rail to scew to the aluminum hand guard tube plus the red dot ;-).

Anyone have any experence ... wonder how marginal is really is?
