IOR Valdada M2 - AR15.COM

Anyone own one of these and have some experience with them?

I have been looking for a 3x-4x power scope with illuminated reticle, and although ACOGs are nice, the IOR is about half the price. I also like the idea that I can replace the batteries as opposed to send in the sight for more tritium if it ever runs down.

I have one. it's not an ACOG, but a very nice scope, particularly for the money.

Pretty rugged I assume? How is the battery life? Out of curiosity, have you ever tried BAC with it?

Seems pretty damn rugged, but I have only shot at the range with it. I don't know about the battery life I have not used the lit reticule except to turn it on so others can look in it and say "Cool!." I have not tried BAC with it. I think the rubber accordian eyepiece would make that difficult. I could be completely wrong about that.

It is a fairly good sized scope. I originally wanted it for a carry handle mount for my shorty AR, but it seemed akward mounted that way (and looked pretty goofy). I don't have it mounted now. It's going on the lightweight barrelled 20 that I have about half of (I will have the rest when CavArms gets their new FFL). My intent is to mount it with flip up sights on the receiver.

The rubber eyepiece is not removable?

Wow, that scope is a lot larger than I thought- I guess the aadvantage to an ACOG is that it is more compact!

BTW, the paint job on your shorty AR is awesome!

I have heard that the rubber eyepiece is removable. I should look into taking it off since I have a little problem getting the right picture through the scope because of it (I get off center and have part of the eyepiece obstructing part of the view so my eye is a little too high-to be honest no one else has ever complained of this so it's just another one of my strange idiosyncracies, I guess).

Thanks! Paint job by Lauer Custom Weapons! I have an Aimpoint that I am trying out on that AR now and am considering getting it painted to match though that is little silly.

The rubber will come off but, you have to get so close to the eyepiece you may get scoped if you do.
If you have a flat top you may need a special set up to get to it comfortably.
Great scope though

Hey what mount is that? The one I have sucks. It's an IOR but the darn scope is too low. Looks like you can't get a backup rear on that, but probably can't do it anyway since the scope is so long.

I have an IOR Valdada M2 and it is very good. Very well built, excellent glass, and the rubber eye piece does come off easily.

No buyer's remorse here.

I have a IOR M2 scope as well. Reticle is easy to see. I mounted it directly on my RRA upper with standard high rings. No problems with the front site. I don't intend to co-witness or have backup sights.
I removed my front and rear rubber for Butler Creek flip ups. (size #2 front and rear). Just took it to the range yesterday and loved it.
I could not afford an ACOG, so this is my second choice, and am pretty happy with it.
I don't have a problem getting good eye relief with the A2 stock, but will change it out for the ACE stock for better fit.

Mid range scope but for its intended purpose, the M2 is a good scope. I have a 308 reticle M2 on my Fal, it has served my baby well.

Those rings aren't as good as the good stuff, but it is a work around until I get either the Leupold QR high rings or the ARMS throw lever track and high track mounted rings.

I have a 308 M2 with the Drag reticle. Awsome scope for the money. It has quality and features of scopes costing 2x more. Very happy with mine. I love the fact that the recticle is green instead of red, makes it MUCH easier to see.

You'll be happy with one I am sure.

Hmm, tough decision here. Though it might look a little goofy on my M4 w/carry handle, sounds like this is the best scope for the money, and it meets all my needs.

...guess I could just use QR rings so I can take it off for those social situations where appearance is more important than function!

BTW Aimless, what carry handle mount do you use? I see the prices range from $10-$60, and of course they all appear the same...

I believe it's an IOR carry handle mount. $ 41 plus shipping. It's a good mount from my experience (which just means it worked without any problems. I did have to tighten it up occaissionally, say every 400 rounds. But I never loctited it)

Any other good carry handle mounts? I saw RRA sells one for around $30 called the tactical mount. There is another that is $20 called a Delta mount. Any oppinions on those?

Mine is the ARMS #35 QD mount with picitiny rail on top. This way it comes off and on easily for cleaning. It also gets it above the front sight so there is no ghost at all and gets it far enough to the rear. I sold the scope but still have the mount

I've had the scope on the range three times now. Either the scope gets better each time or I do. I wear glasses and like the rubber mount. It actually helps me keep both eyes open.

I shoot at BM A3 off a rest. I use the IOR quick release high mounts. Love'em (so far). View is clear, bright and clean. Shot in sun and clouds with no problem.

At 100 yds 4x is still a tad low for me, but I can still punch groups.

The Drag reticle is an interesting animal. But since I simply use the point of the middle chevron for aiming, much of the scope's added value is lost on me.

Bottom line -- a fine accurate scope. Easy, direct service from Valdada is non-existent, however. So if you buy, and I bought from Cactus Tactical, check your scope before you mount it, because they're all the support you're going to get, and they won't touch a mounted scope. FYI -- Valdada doesn't answer their phone, if you do manage to find their number!

man, you're eyes must be worse than mine! 4x on my .308 does me just fine out to 300 (farthest i have shot it so far...). i hit the same steel plate at 300 with an EOTech and the irons on my AR's...
not bragging by any means; i thought i was barely eeking by...
(must note that i'm not shooting for groups...just for reasonable "battle" accuracy)

Oh, man, I'm getting depressed! I hope you iron plate was COM-sized!

Maybe it's the .308 that does it, gives you the accracy. I've got a 16" barrel on my AR...

What kind of AR are you shooting (besides the .308)?

300 yards is within reason for a 16" barreled AR with iron sights. We used to be able to hit a 350 yard gong without a problem with our 16" CAR 15s. AK works great out to those ranges too. What is fun is going to a range with gongs every 50 yards to 350 yards and working the gongs out and working your way back in. Makes burning off mags fun.

the Valdada service line is (970) 879 -2983. The facility is in the process of moving form Steamboat Springs, CO to Littleton, Co, so the gentleman who stated that they do not answer their phone must have caught them during their move.
Valentin and his stuff work a normal work day and if the phone is not busy, which it is a lot, is answered. If they happen to be out of the office dealing with their move or for other errands, they do have an answering service on their line and your calls are returned in a reasonable amount of time. Mine always are.

Sorry for the bandwidth, but bad data about a good guy and his company dserve clearing up.
