Getting my first AR flat top soon, its a flat top Bushy. What all do i need in order to mount a scope on it? Special rings?

Assuming that you have a front site on the Bushmaster, be sure to pick a ring high enough that the reticle clears the front sight.  If you fail to do this you will be unhappy with your sight picture. [:(]

Wouldn't you loose a good cheek weld if the rings are to high.

PErhaps, but if the scope doesn't fit or the reticle winds up flat in the middle of the front sight then you are really screwed.  I would argue the best alternative is the A4 style upper with a fold down front sight.

I think Alphamale is talking about a scope, not a dot sight. Using a scope on a flattop AR with front sight is not a problem. The front sight is too close to the scope to focus on it. In other words, you can't even see it. Trust me.
However, if he's using a dot sight (aimpoint, EOetch etc) then it will show up and a fold down or detachable type would suit him best.
Here is a pic of my Bushy with optics. The front sight is not visable thru the optics.

    Be sure to consider eye relief as well as height - the Picatinny rail on a flat-top may not let you mount the scope far enough forward for a comfortable position, especially in prone. I use an extended riser (1/2" high) made by Accuracy Speaks (available direct or from Brownell's) combined with standard-height rings.  There's now a similar one available from Compass Lake Engineering.  This gives me an extra 4" of rail and lets me mount a Leupold 6.5-20x50 LRT (a rather long scope) and gives me the option for an extra 15' of built-in elevation for long range work. I'm using Wiegand Combat rings (available from Brownell's) - they were inexpensive and work well, even though they don't have the macho look many seem to like.

I have one for my Bushy 20" A3 and a Leupold 4.5-14x40mm scope.  It's just the right height and the eye relief seems to be fine, although I haven't shot it very much (the scope's out getting a new reticle installed).
