Are there any advantages to the compact ACOG sights over the full size? ...any disadvantages, other than the reduced magnification?

Depends on your needs. Compact ACOGs are smaller, lighter, have simpler reticles possibly mount lower to carry handles. Depending on your needs, these may be advantages or disadvantages?

Compacts dont have the stadia lines for long range shooting.

What mount is used to mount a compact ACOG on a flat top and can you use it with the ARMS 40?

I went with the ARMS #19ACOG to mount my compact to my FAL's flat-top rail. I'll drill and tap it to accept a second mounting screw.
