Welcome to the board!

The Eotech will perform well 50 yards and out. In fact, it will perform just as good as the shooter.

EOTech by far is the fastest CQB sight on the market.  and the 1 MOA makes shooting out pass 200m possible.  one time, EOTech set the projection of the reticle to 35yard, but after a long duartion de-ployment and test session by th eMarine corp, EOTech now set the projected reticle at infinity.  this in turn makes shooting out to 300yards possible with out any POI shift.

Ive shot mine out to 200 meters. No problems at all. I do have my iron sites in line with it though also. I liked using the rear iron sight and the EOTech center dot as my aiming point. It covers up less then the flip up front iron sight. The outter circle of the EOTech centers just inside the rear aperature. Seems to work real nice.

I'll be putting one on a 45acp upper pretty soon. I'm really looking forward to hearing the 100 yd metal targets go "DONG" as fast as I can pull the trigger. A 1 MOA dot sight is what I've been waiting for. Up until the EOtech the smallest I'd seen was 4MOA.

SMGLee and BradD,

When using the Eotech for the extended ranges (200m-300m)you guys mentioned, does the large ring around the 1 MOA dot clutter up the sight picture?

Thanks!

No, the lines on the 65MOA outer circle is pretty fine, it does not block the distance targets.  I have had very good success engaging human size steel targets out to 300m with EOTech equipped Colt M4.

SMG,

I have the eotech 511, on a RRA m4, what would be a good distance to sight in at?  50 yds, or 100yds?  If sighted in at 100yds (dead on) what is the point of impact say at 15yds,50yds,and 75yds?  thanks

I have mine dead on at 100. I think theres a thread on this bouncing around also. At 15-25 yards Im about 2 inches low. 50 yards I think I was maybe 1 inch low or right in that ballpark. The outter ring looks great through the rear sigt. It centers the center dot perfectly.

I always perform the 50 yard sight in with all my 223 red dot equipped weapon.  this method gives you a 2 inch difference all the way out to 250 yards.  this is the perferred method with a lot of guys on this board.

Dumb question about the Eotechs ...do they return to zero without any problems when removed and replaced? (on the same rail spot, of course)

I have removed my 551 off the flat top rail without any lost of zero out to 100 yards.  I have not try this sight out past that distance.  I usually rezero my optic when ever I remove it from the gun, despite the mounting device I got.  It is always good to be safe the sorry.
