Be sure to pull them straight off, DO NOT TWIST! If they don't feel like they'll budge mount the Aimpoint to the rifle and try again.

Can you damage an aimpoint ML2 or M2 by twisting the flip up caps?

I don't think so - I think that problem was remedied with the M2/ML2.
Edited to add: Twist clockwise and you don't have to worry about it - regardless of model - IIRC. |
