Aimpoint's brand name can stand alone, they've certainly proven themselves.  Both Aimpoint & Trijicon build darn good products.  I never thought I'd choose to own optics that cost that much but I now own 2 C. Acogs & an Aimpoint M2 and they're worth it (though I do hope prices can come down).

I have not yet "owned" a Tripower, but I have operated one-twice now, I bored the hell out of the Trijicon rep, once at the SHOT Show, and once at the BRC, by poring over their sample, asking a hundred questions, and practicing target acquisition with it. Not the same as an extensive abuse testing, but it does let you know what sort of sight you're getting into. It's alot like a much clearer, brighter Reflex, with battery backup. That's exactly what I want.

GW/LE for did a positive review of the Tripower. Yeah, it's a gun rag, they give a positive review of everything.

Still, they pretty much said exactly what I thought, when I  was jinking around the Trijicon booth, both eyes open, with the Tripower in hand, putting the Chveron of Death on them. Ok, so yeah, I was excited, and I did wanna test it out more, but there were other people...

They also wouldn't let me steal it. Jerks.

As far as the original question goes(seems like I completely ignored it, but it's a Chevy/Ford thing) I've sold my Aimpoint, in preparation for two Tri-Powers. The Aimpoint has up to 10,000 battery hours(on the lowest setting, which probably won't be visible in the daylight), but when that battery's gone, it's gone. No more dot sight.

The Tripower is always on, and since Tritium has a half life of 7 years, and the Fiber optic run on ambient light, you've got a ready sight, without using up the battery, unless you need it. Also, the reticle is much sharper on the Tripower- 'nother bonus, IMHO.

Bottom line, I wouldn't feel like I'd gone wrong with either one, but I choose the Tripower, as it best fits my wants and needs.
