Here are some of the "plastic" ones, not counting one of my "nightstand" PMI 40rd mag I tossed on the pile. I thought about lining them all up nice and neat, but said screw it and just dumped some cans instead. That would be 20 x 30rd Pmags, 13 x 30rd Lancers, 6 x 20rd Lancers, 10 x 30rd MSARs, and one of my aforementioned, past and present, beloved and trusted, "things that go bump in the night" 40rd PMIs...for anyone who is counting. A minimum of 6 of the Pmags are topped off and hanging in a shoulder bag at any time, not counting what's loaded in bags in the safe. Why do I still feel like I need more...

Go mags in the safe, although I've 'retired' the MSARs and Lancer 20s from sitting loaded since this picture.

About 600 C-Products USGI 30 Round Aluminum Magazines, Gray Teflon finish, orange followers, chrome-silicon springs, New-In-Wrap. 100 mags per case. (That Staples box holds only 94 mags... thanks to the knuckleheads at UPS, who split 3 of the original C-Products boxes open, with one box almost trashed, and losing 6 mags during transit.)

Many thanks to C-Products for a great product and terrific CS!

And the EOTWAWKI/SHTF mil-spec containers to house them in...well, the Hardigg mil-spec containers were originally intended to hold AR's, M9's, and shotguns, but those are in a gunsafe. These are stored in another property subject to humidity but steady temps. BTW, if you want to see more...just ask...

Thanks CJan_NH! You've got a VERY NICE collection too, and I've seen it many times here in the forums. I'll even say that its nicer than mine - BECAUSE everyone of your mags are filled with ammo! I have yet to get a decent amount of ammo to fill them.

Sorry shrikefan. It wasn't intentional. But you'll get there. Just make it a goal and save up for it. You can get there one of two ways...a little at a time... or save up and do a huge buy. Developing a good relationship with the seller/dealer/distributor/manufacturer, and patience, helps too.

I hear ya. (I once lived in Chicago, for way toooooo long.) TX is great. IMO, there are as many Texas Gun Ranges as there are dumbass snooty golf courses in Illinois. Nowadays, I'd rather shoot a golf ball from 100 yds than hit one 100 yds.

Thanks for the compliments.

Here is my pathetic contribution.  This thread needs more pics.

I'm fairly new to AR's and have limited money that i can set aside for guns and most of that goes to more 5.45 surplus.

Anyway heres my meager AR mag stash. Not bad for an 18 year old.  (The AK-74, AK-47, CETME Mag and Garand clip stashes are far more impressive)

The 30rd magpuls are SD loads, steel 30 rders are training/beaters and the 20rders are M855.

Yep he is right, the lighter green tips are some American LC SS109 and the dark ones are some Privi Partisan, they use a lacquer, we use actual green paint.

[Last Edit: CJan_NH] [#46]
Some of the older guys here like Warlord and myself remember what is was like trying to get decent mags during the Federal AWB. The thing is, mags are a disposable/wearable item-they aren't going to last forever. Over the course of the ten year ban I took several dozen mags out of service: some were damaged from being dropped, and some of them just got worn out. A large number of my mags during that time only had two or three of the little metal tabs intact on the bottom to hold the floorplate in place. If is wasn't for those black Teflon coated steel Brit mags that were introduced towards the end of the ban I would have been down to only a small handful of fully functional thirty rounders. Around here, used beat-to-shit Colt thirty rounders were over $50ea-apparently it wasn't that bad in some other parts of the country, but it was pretty ugly here.

For the reasons I outlined above I will never EVER let that happen again. I have stacked them deep, and I will continue to do so. The pics I posted on page 1 are only the mags that are in rotation. The majority of mine are still bagged up and locked away for the future. I want to have enough for myself, my family, and friends to last a lifetime. I've still got a ways to go, but I'm getting there

Edited for spellin' and grammah...

VERY VERY VERY WELL PUT CJan_NH!

Mag prices hit what may have been a 20 year bottom in 2010. Not sure about 2011 but I don't see a serious uptick in prices either. IMHO, there's NO better time to buy! And IMHO, all mags are expendable - makes no difference if you run a truck over it or shoot it to validate its function & reliability. During the AWB, I wore out or discarded over 16 pre-bans due to irepairable feedlip creep, a broken weld, a constant misfeed, a bad ding, I bent one out of shape, etc. Use a mag over & over - USGI or polymer - and wear & tear will take a toll. It's why a mag costs a lot less than $5 to make (for USGI's at today's raw material prices). They were designed to be inexpensive to produce, by stamping metal. For polymer mags, raw material costs are a LOT cheaper than a USGI's, but overall costs are higher (initially) due to very custom tooling, and advanced engineering & development.

The most I ever paid for USED Pre-Ban USGI mags was $36 EACH during the Federal AWB. Like CJan_NH, I will NEVER EVER let that happen again.

Keep gettin' mags. In another 10-15 years, there's no telling what these will be going for. But there's a strong chance they won't be cheaper.

CJ and Warlord are correct . I use the same mags a lot and during the AWB I picked up a few at way more than current market price. same with Glock mags. I remember ar mags at $30 and Glock at $70 and HK  usp .45 mags at $100. I have been stacking them deep ever since 2004 a little bit at a time. Every time I order ammo or stuff from AIM or anybody else I add a few mags. They do not go bad or eat as my dad would say
