I've never had my hands on the Canadian version, but I have been using the U.S. Thermolds made by D & D Inc. in Wilson, NC for about 25 years and never had a failure.  I've heard that the Canadian version was made with inferior materials causing mag lips to spread when hot but that is not from first-hand knowledge.

What is a fair price for lightly used (like new really) D&D made Thermolds?  I tried checking out the EE, but the going rates seemed to vary a bit.

I would say $7-8 depending on condition. You can get new USGI mags for $9-12.

That's the common knowledge. One member had a supply of canadians to sell and he distributed them to others for range reports. People were happy with them. Perhaps the missing ingredient was heat from sustained automatic fire, or ammo dumps. Actually you'd be better served to grab some Thermolds right now. USGI mags are as low as possible right now, but Thermolds are no longer produced. If you can get them cheaply, get them.
