SAW, or get new USGI mags from 44mag for 1/2 the cost of a Colt mag.  Colt subs there mags out to USGI vendors.

Only Colt Mags I buy any more are the older 20's with the metal follower.

Why not do what the person you gonna pay big bucks to, probably did?????

Buy the cheapest LaBelle or DH teflon coated mags you can find and install a Colt floorplate to the bottom.

Bingo, you got a Colt 30 round mag and it didn't cost ya an arm and a leg.

FWIW, folks that pay through the nose for products that have the COLT label are P.T. Barnum's bestests buddies.

Mike

ps - I don't give a shit what the floorplate says as it the magazine's FUNCTIONALITY that's a priority to me and other's of the non-anal retentive crowd.

These are the Magazines that are used to test fire the rifles.  On the bottom of the floorplate will be a number taped to the floorplate
I ordered a lot of the "Red Power Spring" magazines and they were all Colt.

For Colt stamped Magazines you cannot beat this price even if the were once used

The New ones listed  below are either Colt or the NHMTG magazines

Not really the Cage Number will be different if the are not at least Okay Magazines..........And have you priced up any Colt Magazine Floorplates latley I seen a couple in the EE a while back and they sold for $10.00 each

Thanks for the info dpmmn, as most of the mags I placed the 30 or so Colt floorplates I bought years ago were on Okay Ind. 30 rounders, (have since purchased additional LaBelles and DH variety teflon mags but never bothered to look around for any more Colt floorplates).

And "yikes" at $10/ea, doubt I'll be looking for any....., cannot recall what I paid for them when I bought them last time off the EE, but it dang sure weren't nothing that costly, (seems it was 0.50-$1/ea).

If you are purchasing a "Colts factory magazine" because you feel it offers the best quality, buy any Okay Ind magazine, there's no difference, they are one in the same. The ONLY supplier I have ever known who manufactures magazines for Colts is Okay Ind. and have been since the beginning. Colts does not manufacture magazines. Never has.

Good stuff, dpmmn.

I read the CAGE # reference but didn't make anything of it until you pointed it out

This is proof-positive its not a floor-plate bait and switch program.

and how about SAW's mention of buying 10,000+ of these?

While they are demo mags, we can assume they weren't used for a single testy fire.

that would be ridiculous................wouldnt it?

The earliest Colt magazines were actually made by Universal Industries, but otherwise you're correct.

At $14.50 the Colt mags with red springs are a pretty good deal IMO. Dry film mags look used even when they're new, might as well buy used ones

Some of the Magazines that were shipped to me had various numbers on the bottoms, there were 12 of them (Four groups of three) that all had the same numbers. I've been tols that Colt test fires each new weapon for the Govt with 90 to 100 rounds before the rifle is shipped. If that is the case that would explain it.

I was always going to ask CJan_NH about this.
But yes they are used "Demo Mags" so at the end of the day you get a Colt Magazine manufactured by Okay Industries, with a Colt Floor Plate and Stampings for either $12.50 or $14.50 each
