I think this is a pretty great idea!
As it sits now these are a temp short run of the clear backed beta mags. They had a .mil request and built some, but are not sure if it will become a permanent part of the Beta line up.

Makes total sense. If they are being used in the SAW as reported... there would be no way to have a clue when the stuff gets thick how much ammo you have left. They should have been built this way from day one! It would be nice to be able to see what is left in the Beta! Now if they could be made drop and heavy dust proof... and they got a product. |

I bet it would be a neat lookin' mpeg looking through the clear back with a SAW mag dump.
 I agree, the clear back makes a lot of scense. I hope they keep making them. |

Hi, Would like to know is the clear plastic the same material as the rest of the mag/drum? Also is it the same price as the black one? Thanks

It is a similar material. They cost about $10 more than the original one. by the way, the clear is just the back plate (facing the shooter) |

I thought the military rejected the Beta mags because they were so fragile and not very reliable? Why would they have a specification for a clear one? |

Not sure at all which units use them, but the clear backing helps to identify how many rounds are left in the beta mag. |

The US Army at least actually banned their use and purchase by units and individual soldiers. There was actually a saftey message on them a few years ago. |

If they did, someone is not listening - because there is no shortage of them out there. (learned this today) But there clear backing was at the request of the USMC, (which is not to say - expect these to be a general issue item). IMHO, Beta mags can best be used for LE, Home Defense, Range use, and ringing out a M16 . There are very few items in the world that can stand up to the abuse it will receive from a front line infantry soldier or Marine. That type of abuse can never realistically be seen in the civilian world.And here is another really cool pic . . . .

On top of that Bravo is top notch. I received mine today; end-to-end 36 hours from purchase to having it in hand.
You can't beat that. If you're on the fence- get it before Billary makes it so you can't. Cheap fun now, $600 later if you can find one and the feeling of remorse for not jumping. |

I would buy those rear covers.
I hope they offer them as a replacement part. Not mentioned on the Beta Co web site at all. but they to show a Mini14 C-mag coming in the fall. hmmm |
