I've not laid eyes on them, but been told the Brits made 40 rounders. Anyone with any experience on them?

sound reasonable to me. Two 40 round magazines for $300 or buy a no-change Beta magazine for less? Guess that is the answer. Thanks for the info.

If I remember correctly the British SAS used M16 rifles during the 1980s and I'd be willing to bet the Sterling 40rd mags were used on special occasions when extra capacity was desirable. So far I havn't run into any 40rd SAS mag pouches but I do have some 20rd M16 British SAS issue mag pouches. All the Sterling-England parkerized steel mags (20/30/40) are first rate military mags. My best guess is the 40rd Sterling-England mags were originally intended for use with the limited production Sterling AR18S (short barrel/select fire rifles).
