Short answer, not as often as I'd like but probably as often as necessary...
Obviously, dropped-in-muck/soiled/wet/problem mags get dealt with immediately (like Wedge stated). I just cleaned, checked, & upgraded (where necessary) my AR mags this week, but it was probably the first time I had done them en mass like that in about ten years. If I'm not feeling any better tomorrow (I'm recovering from a nasty case of bronchitis right now) and don't go to the range, I'll probably do the same for a bunch of pistol mags and other rifle mags while watching my beloved 'Bama get slaughtered by Kentucky.  ETA: Boy, did I call that game wrong!  ROLL TIDE!

I clean them real good before I refinish them.

Never had to. Even when I have dropped them in dirt. Just blow them off and reload. |

Never clean them. Only degrease them before you refinish them which should only be once in a few years.

+2 Mine are cleaned when they get refinished.... and then never again. I have yet to have to re-refinish any of my Permaslik'd mags.... so only the first time..... thats it. |
