Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - How to re-install spine/spring steel on 20 round magazine

I have a COLT AR-15 20 round magazine. The steel spring/spine that holds the baseplate popped out all of its rivet. How do i re-install it back? the rivets became rusty already, where can I get rivets this small? any other way or re-installing?

Have you tried using a baseplate from a 30 round magazine?

Don't bother; that flat spring will rust and breaks easily, and finding those tiny little crush rivets isn't easy.  The better solution is to remove the flat spring and use a 30-round floorplate.

There are aviation steel pop rivets that work great.  I have fixed a couple with them.  

How many do you need?
