[ARCHIVED THREAD] - What mags for my Armalite

I just bought a new Armalite M15A2. I was wondering if all USGI mags will work with the rifle. I was thinking of getting some of the SA80 mags if they will also work. Any help would be great.

Yes, all USGI mags will work with your Armalite.

So will SA80's. I especially like the ones from CMMGinc.com, which come with green followers thrown in, as well as a better silicon chrome spring.

The new HK-made SA80 mags are LEO only, but England surplussed a ton of their earlier mags, which are essentially steel versions of standard USGI mags. These are prebans.

USGI and SA80 mags work just fine in my Armalite with no fuss at all. US Thermolds also work for me, but only after a few pulls of the handle to let the bolt shave the feed lips down a bit to clear.

And get a LULA to make loading soooo much easier. I bought Thermolds for range use to minimize the odds of bending feed lips on aluminum USGI mags when I stuffed the rounds in, but the LULA fixed that worry.
