What do you think about those PMI 40 rounders; I have seen these for sale on the net.  However Ive been afraid to touch them because of all the negative publicity on this site regarding aftermarket mags.

Keep up the good work!

GOOD GOD TROY...............!!!!!!!!

NO Colt 20 or 30 rnd. mags ???????

personally, i am ALL Colt, (well, not exactly !! i got about 20 "other" mags) got about 150 Colt 20s & 30s, my favorite is the "Colt .223 cal." marked mags, i have read your mag faq's several times & have printed out a copy.....

is there any significance to the "circle 1" on early Colt mags being right side up or upside down ??????

Troy,

very true...., BUT...!!! for some reason that Colt floor plate just seems to be addictive to me, i have a box of 7 brand new Adventure Line mags, but they just don't have the same appeal to me as the new Colts do...., or any Colt new or used, i use only Colt mags in my Colt AR-15s, i am rather strange that way, i also use Ford parts on my Ford truck, i am a purist when it comes to my guns or vehicles......

OK, this is OT.

In the early '80s, I bought a Ruger Mini 14.  It was what I thought I could afford.  (Yes, I know I would have been better off buying that Colt AR15, youth & ignorance is my only defence).

I bought a variety of Federal Ordnance magazines to go with it.  Also a flash suppressor, and a Choate folding stock.  (Yes, there are actual preban Rugers, I own one!)

The rifle itself is nothing to brag about accuracy wise.  I have considered cutting the barrel down to 16.25 inches, to see if this would improve the accuracy.  It is reliable, with the Fed Ord magazines.

Anyway, does anybody see any problems with Federal Ordnance magazines?  Rumor has it that they were manufactured by PMI.  Is this true?  Was PMI the actual contract manufacturer for Ruger?

Enquiring minds want to know?

I'm not exactly sure.  I have something like 230-240 USGI 30-rounders alone, a bunch of 20s, and at least a couple of just about every other type of .223 mag that's compatible with the AR.  Some examples:

- Thermold 30s, US-made, all mold #'s
- Thermold 30s, US-made, blank (orange)
- Thermold 30s, Canadian
- Thermold 20s (Master Molder)
- Thermold 30/45 expandable (only one of these)
- Orlites, several vintages
- FNC
- British (Radway Green, Royal Ord, & Imperial Defense)
- Sterling AR180 40-rounder
- PMI 40-rounders
- Eagle, clear plastic
- Ramline AR15/AR180/Mini-14 combo, clear plastic
- BetaC
- MWG "The 90-Rounder"
- USAs, aluminum and steel (these were "donated" to my collection [:D])

Then there's the mags for the other platforms...

This is a good chance for me to give my thanks to Troy for all his work here.  His efforts have made me more knowledgeable and saved me money.

Hugs (manly hugs, of course).
