Did we EVER issue any NYLON 20 rd M16 mag pouches?? I recall canvas pouches, but thats it. I was an Aircrew guy and only carried a .38 !

I need a few mag pouches for 20 rd mags and prefer nylon.

Thanks,

Sure did!

[b]Case, Ammunition, M16, 20 Round Magazine.

The ones on my desk are 1969 contracts.  Eastern Can. [Canvas?] Prod. Inc.  Hold 4 ea magazines, no dividers.  (Will hold 6 M1 Carbine mags.)  There were, I believe, some which had dividers and held 3.

Never saw one in the Infantry until well after 1970, though.  Certainly none during the war where we used the old canvas M14 mag pouches, or Chinese SKS chest pouches, or just put the loaded magazines back in the bandoleers and wore them bra-style across the chest.

I have some early 1960s USGI "rubberized" canvas mag pouches that held two AR15 20rd mags side by side and went on the web belt via a large loop.  Think they might of been for the USAF AR15.  Buddy Hinton has pictures of these mag pouches on his site.  Also have a couple of British SAS AR15 20rd mag pouches that are excellent, they are made of canvas with a rubberized liner and two large loops to attach pouch to the web belt.  They hold four mags total, two side by side.  Kobren.
