My friend is buying a BM V-Match from our local FFL.  He had two mags the he just gave to us.  Floor plate markings are

(pony) COLT AR-15
  CAL .223
COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. INC
 HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.

The CAL .223 caught my attention.  According to the Mag FAQ these would be very early Colt US Air Force mags.

Bodies are 20 rd. aluminum with 99% moly finish.  Light rust on the floor plate retainer.  Light marks where they where inserted into a weapon, and aluminum follower.  The mags appear to have received almost no use with no wear on the feed lips.

Do these mags have any value beyond a preban USGI 20 rounder?  Can we shoot these without a care or should we put them away?

Use the hell out of 'em, they're not "collectable" enough to worry about (yet), and they're great mags!

Like BFL said, they're only worth a couple bucks more
(who hasn't spent more than that just to make a mag "more reliable"?).
