who makes or how do I find out about mags that are unmarked?
I have seen 30s and 40s at an ffl no marks though on the floorpaltes or anywhere else
any ideas for me

i just did
i take it they are not so good
I do have one that looks like blued metal but saw nothing in there about that
and the faq is down or at least the one link is

Unmarked mags are almost always cheap, crappy aftermarket mags from makers like USA, Triple K, Western Metal, Millet, and/or ProMag.  You are better off with 2 or 3 USGI mags than 10 of these at any price.
