I was interested in buying a pre-ban 100rd C-mag but I'm told that for the cost, its not worth it.

Whatdayathink?

There are 2 factors to consider

Do you want to be able to have 100 rounds in a mag?

How much over $400 are you willing to spend.

I bought mine from Rueben who is a member here for about $389 a little over a year ago.  It is cool as can be. Did I need a 100 round mag. No, but I have a bunch of other shit I dont need either. Only you can justify it to yourself if it is worth it.

Is the Reuben you speak of the guy down in Miami?

If so, I think he putting me on his waiting list as soon as he got some prebans in.

I've seen some guys selling C-mags for anywhere from $500 to $900.

I just love the efficiency of high capacity.  If only it was available...

Same guy!! Everything went very well with the tranaction.  Everything was delivered as promissed and according to the schedule Reuben said I would have it.  Make sure you get the loose ammo loader, it is very nice. It will let you load 5 rounds at a time and can be used with any of your other mags as well.

Those are all very good points.

I like to think that if I got a C-mag that it would be a good investment.  USGI 30rd mags will someday run out of supply but right now are amply available.  However, the C-mag is much more rare and will command a rapid, ever-increasing value.  I'd bet that a $500 pre-ban c-mag now will be worth at least a grand in two years.

But I'm still having a hard time finding an available C-mag now!

Is it just me or is paying $400-$900 for a
"Used/factory refurbished" preban Beta-Cmag a tad bit ridiculous??? Pesonally at those prices I'd buy myself a NIB Bushmaster M4a3 postban to be twins with my current Bushy M4a3 and 20"XM15.

But Hell, that's just my 2 wheat pennieshatchulike.

It sure is nice having that instant high capacity available quickly and easily.  I put a nylon belt onto the pouch that the C-Mag comes in and take the C-Mag every place the rifle goes, such as in the trunk of the car or wherever.

I am getting USGI 30round mags for $10 each, although the Beta-C mags are "cool", there is no way I would ever consider plopping down $500 clams for one.  The amount of ammo and mags I could purchase for the same price is obscene.

As posted earlier, lose or damage the Beta-C, and you would be SOL.  I also don't buy gear I am afraid to use everday, which would also kill the Beta-C at that price.

Have you looked at the price of M16s lately?

Beta-Cs are completely repairable.

I have a Beta C I bought for full auto use.  It's not nearly as much fun in semi.

Consider an MWG 90 round drum.  At half the price, it works flawlessly (just not as cool looking or well balanced as the Beta C).

BetaC is HEAVY and the ammo rattles around when you walk with it.  Its only good for a range mag or a stationary position mag.  If the magazine ban ever gets lifted you would be out a lot of money.  I considered getting one but Id rather put the money into something more useful like a suppressor.

I have debated the same issue over the last couple of years about the C Mag.And decided they are just to much money.I finally said forget it and bought some nice Teflon USGI's and some Mag Cinches, and spent the rest on ammo. That's my $.02 worth on the subject.

well the only way i would buy a c mag is if i owned a m16. and after shooting a c mag thru a m16 i dont think it would be much fun on semi. but hey its your money. personly i go with troys advice.

No you can't. Pre-orders are done. There will be no more Shrikes to order until at least 2nd quarter next year. That is if Ares doesn't get a military contract.

Interesting math

With a C-Mag is possible to unload 14.4 ounces of lead (SS109) on a target in 11.7 seconds.

Even if abused, the Beta company can repair pre-ban C-Mags. They are very nice folks.

Another issue that hasn't been raised - if the AW Ban sunsets in two years, then all that money you paid for your Beta C goes straight down the crapper.

That's malarky.  Even today, law enforcement only betas are going for $250.  If the AW ban sunsets, and demand goes up, expect them to be even more than that.

Ok, so you're still out $150-$200 bucks assuming you paid $400-$450 for a pre-ban.  Not a huge loss, but still a decent chunk of change.  My point is that if you're buying one of these as an investment, you should consider the fact that the value could also go down.

Got my beta c  a couple of years back from ruben ive shot the crap out of it in my m-16 and it still looks brand new.  ive turned down what i gave for it several times.

Another plus to the beta c is that it can remain fully loaded indefintily.

The lasting spring is one of the more intriguing features of the beta c.  I figured that if I bought one I could load it up and keep it in my closet in case of doomsday OR later on down the line I could sell it for beacoup bucks.

All that talk about the AW Ban lapsing makes me feel all tingly.  I wish it would and now with the Republicans in power I think it just may be possible.

If the Assult Rifle ban sunsets in 2004 and the 10 round limit with it how much will those $500 mags be worth?

They were out as of yesterday.  Quality varies, I bought 3, one had ocasional jams, the other two worked great.  I use them as range mags.

If you order them, make sure to ask for pre bans, they will try to sell you LEO/Govt mags (at a lower price)if you might remotely qualify.

They're not the sturdiest things in the world. This is the result of a -3' fall onto carpet (mag was loaded).

Could be mine was defective from the get go...I don't know.

It cost me $100 with shipping to get it repaired. Now that I have it back...it has been relegated to the "High priced range toy" bin. This is not an item I would trust my life to.

They are a lot of fun though!! :-D

I've only had mine for a few months, but it's been a hell of a lot of fun. I've put around 300 rounds through it and my buds get a kick of watching the rounds fly. I think it was worth the 4 bills I paid for it.

This I feel is a shitty attitude.  I dont give a crap what it is "worth" I bought it to shoot. Same with all the preban rifles, I shoot mine. I wouldnt care if all of this stuff lost half or more of its "value".  You know why?? Because myself and many others would buy a ton more stuff if the prices are what they should be.  Let all of it lose value, I will just keep buying it up since I use the product and not showcase it!!

Beta C mags just plain rock.  I bought one from Ruben when I had money a couple years ago.  I would be willing to sell it at these prices now though.
