Brown Bear 223 Rem 55 gr Soft Point | Gel Test An idea would be to reload this bullet to lower velocities to get an idea of the expansion threshold. |

no posts here in a long time.
Since there is always the ongoing discussion about the "consistency" of M193 fragmenting, how about shooting 5-10 rounds of M193 (from at least a 16" barrel) into 10% gel to see if there are variations? |

I recently fired a bha 556 69gr tmk into 10% clear gel and got about 15-16" of penetration using my 12.5-if I were to fund it, would you be able to replicate this into real gel to see of there are any result variances?

I don't know if you have the guns or ammunition to do it, but I've wondered how 124 grain HST (either +P or standard pressure or both) work through the micro 9s (Hellcat, Shield, 365).
I'd offer my Hellcat and ammunition to use as I have both std. and +P but you're a bit too far away from me to make that work. |

I did a few tests a while back in the Clear Ballistics Gel. Mostly 44-40, but I did get in some 38, 357, 45 colt and 44 magnum. ALL FROM SINGLE ACTION REVOLVERS and a rifle or two. The "REVOLVER" usage replicated "rifle impact velocities" at certain distances.
The bullet "expansion" performance in the gel doesn't need to get confused with slower velocity full penetration's capabilities. Both the 200gr 44-40 and 250gr 45 Colt bullets traveling at only 700fps will completely penetrate the broadside of a horse at the shoulders. Meanwhile, "expanding design" bullets act like parachutes and would generally only penetrate 16 inches. The 44 Magnums were fun!!!
