This thread includes our first look at the PolyFrang 45gr frangible ammunition round. It will be updated as our testing begins.

This bullet is a Metal Impregnated Polymer which does not need to be loaded down, is capable of excellent accuracy, can be fired from a suppressor, and has all the benefits of other frangible rounds. This means it is safe against steel at point blank range, is lead free, and virtually eliminates over-penetration.

PolyFrang .223/5.56mm Frangible Ammunition is for use in training, defense and duty applications. The lead free projectiles are made with Metal Impregnated Polymer (MIP) technology designed to disintegrate upon impact, virtually eliminating ricochets and splashback. - Chamber pressure: 33,100 psi (reduces weapon platform wear)
- Twist rate: Optimized for 1:7 (ideal for military and law enforcement)
- Functionality: Cycles in fully-automatic rifles with barrels as short as 10.5" and with suppressors

Wow - at $1/each, that's some expensive ammo. How much does "regular" frangible ammo cost?



 

I have to think that the market for frangible ammunition to shoot at steel without worrying about ricochets is pretty small among the general population. Law enforcement agencies may be the main customer I would think.
