Ammo to go has 75 grain TAP LEO in stock, price seems to be in line with what was in the EE prior to the price frenzy.

How does the .223 TAP LEO comapre with 5.56 TAP?  Is it a T2 projectile as well?

.223 75 grain TAP = Product # 80265 (What ATG is selling)
5.56 75 grain TAP = Product # 8126N

Only the 8126N utilizes the T2 projectile.

They are close but not the same animal.

If you've got a Snickers, sit back and read Molon's Epic TAP Thread.  It will shed much light on your query.

I wish you well with your search,
Scott

75gr FPD is pretty accurate in my rifle. I dont see how 5.56 could be much better.
Using an ACOG is is pretty much on the same spot everytime.

55gr TAP!

75gr will most like work 'well enough' in his 1:9 twist barrel.

The 55gr TAP sucks, it will not make minium penetration requirements.
thanks for the tip

That's not right.

Buy at least 5 boxes worth, so it's around $2-3 shipping per box.

Or get him some TAP FPD 75gr locally (if you can find that).  Neither will have the T2 projectile, and both are .223 instead of 5.56...I would think they would perform somewhat similarly.

by "nobody around here" i meant noone here in charleston, sc has any TAP in .223 nor do they know when they can get it.  plus, my budget for pappy day is like $40.  i think i might get him a sling or a book instead of ammo.

Send me $50 and I'll ship you 2 boxes of 75 grain TAP .  I have 3 extra boxes, I'll sell these to those in need.  This is what I have in my AR for home defense - 10 rounds in the rifle, another 10 rounds in my extra clip.  I live in CA - If I didn't I'd have 30 in the rifle, and 30 in the extra clip.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the difference between Hornady TAP personal defense (#83288) and Hornady TAP #83286. Both are 60gr and it looks like the same bullet, just different packaging.

You don't have to spend $100 on him...don't YOU want some TAP as well?  Give him 2 boxes, and keep 3 for yourself...unless $40 is all the spare money you have...if so, get him a book or something like you said.  Shipping will be better if you can spread it out over many boxes...or get something else for yourself if you don't want TAP...again, this will depend on your funding...

Interesting...

Last I knew, you could only buy direct from Hornady, via a letter on your department's letterhead, with your supervisor's signature, a typed letter of your wife's approval in 300 words or less, a 15 mL vial of your blood drawn from your left testicle, your original birth record, all notarized by God.

So, how'd you get your wife's approval?
