So I went to this little crappy local gun show today. Basically a waste of $5.

I couldn't believe what they were asking for ammo. Went to this one table and the guy has a few boxes of American Eagle sitting there, I ask him how much and he holds up a box of Wolf and says $6. I said $6 for Wolf? He says yep, you can't find it anywhere you know. Without arguing too much with him I basically laughed at him and walked over to another table where I saw some LC XM193 for $8 per box. The only thing that was even close to reasonable was some 04 Winchester loose packed in a ammo can 500 rounds for $125. Didn't really need any so I passed.

This was such a crappy show I couldn't even find stripper clips/spoons. Oh and they wanted $8 for ammo cans. There are several surplus stores around here that sell them for $5 all day long.

Just wanted to rant a little.

its not just gun shows anymore, have you looked at the EE here?? folks have plum lost there damn mind nowadays....

and thats not including shipping... why are so many out to screw folks over for a dime?? you know damn well that he didnt even pay 300 for a case of fiochi. let alone 345 for it!! im all for making a profit but damn come on that right there is an insult to us all.

I just paid $.30 a round for Q3131A.

I felt sick,but after I went to a shop asking $7.50 for a box of AE223 I knew I had to pick up the 3131A for $6.00 a box.

Depends on the show. Last show at Chantilly I got Golden Bear 7.62x39mm OTD for $145 case.

Besides, price bitching is one thing... dumping on people who insist on making a profit is leftist-socialist bullshit anti-free market. If the guys are asking "too much" they will be the first ones to figure it out... and lower the price. If people buy it... who cares?

I am as frugal (Cheap) as can be sometimes watching an item marked down in a store like Walmart or a discount hunting or sporting goods store for weeks if still there trying to decide a need for it first and then how much time I might gamble before buying it waiting on more markdown with the chance that another would scoop it up.I cannot tell you how many guns I bought over the years after getting the ammo super cheap.Now with the current state of ammunition supplies it is the opposite: Do I buy now with a supply on hand at the shop or show and a seemingly too high price or wait for it to drop or go even higher before making a move.This end of the buying game I do not like at all Edit For Typos

IF you want to shoot then you have to pay. Don't want to pay thats fine too. Now you do know everything associated with making ammo and shipping it has gone up. Given that do you really expect people to sell you their product at a loss. Get real.

Picked up some remington 223. 200 rounds for 4.50 a box.

Picked up two m855 ammo cans for 4.80 a piece or 10buck with tax. They had small ammo cans for 2 for 8 bucks.

I could not find any surpluss 223 or 308 though.

I may go back to get more remmy since both of my ar's are set up for 223. One is chambered to take either.

Pretty much gave up on trying to find a good deal on ammo at the shows. I pretty much just go there to look at the guns and chat with some vendors that I know.

Last weekend I was at a show here in Reno, and there was a vendor that was offering new Lake City M855, 60 rounds on stripper clips in a banodleer, for $50.

Ammunition reminds me of real estate back in 2001... people think they are sitting on gold.

I'm sitting on 2k rounds of Aussie F4.

At current prices, 10 cans of 7.62 on strippers in bandoleers, I could pull together enough for a nice Kimber I've been eyeing at the local shop. I'd like to get one more nice 1911 to get onto my CCW permit and that stash of ammo could easily pay for it.

I'm 50/50 on whether I should sell it or not. Knowing that I couldn't replace it for a reasonable price any time soon if ever is what pains me.

Plus I've got 2 cans of 250 linked rounds of 7.62 DAG that I could probably part with for a decent price given it's the "uber fragmenting" round that Fackler discusses.

In a free market, supply and demand dictate price, just cause someone has ammo no is no promise thier will be any tomarrow, and the sellers need to make provisions for the market swings before they get caught and cannot restock thier inventory.

In this day and age, the cost of running a Firearms business is not what it was 10-15 years ago. More Lawsuits, Insurance, Taxes, and supply is running out quicker then product can be produced.

If you think they are trying to rip you off don't buy, otherwise open you own business and findout what other have been dealing with since the war and the introduction of Bill's in concress.

That is where you are wrong. Some of these people are far too stupid to consider it is the price that keeps people from contacting the seller.

How many times have we seen a retard in here selling 7 BP's for 60 each(total $420), with the following text being buy all 7 for $425. ???

WTF is that about? Someone like that would not think its their price, as they are clearly too stupid to realize when you buy all of something there is usually a discount, not a premium!

So no, they must be told. And free market is one thing...being a slimy, filthy overpriced jackass is another. The for sale adds here define the differences for all to see.

True, it's all about supply and demand! As long as people are willing to pay outlandish prices then why should they lower them?

For now I'm only shooting the Federal value pack stuff from WM and some Wolf that I got for right around $180 per 1000.

Two weeks ago I wandered into this little shop that sells alot of old stuff and came across some 88 Winchester M855. It was loose in a can and the old guy counted out 256 rounds. He had it priced at $0.35 per round. He said I could have it all and the can for $80.00. That's $0.30 per round and about $5 for the can. These days that's a pretty good price so I snagged it. The first thing I though of when that jackass said $6 for a box of Wolf was I just paid the same price for some M855, you've got to be smoking crack.

Its the gunshow, many people go there as thier only source to buy stuff and will get ripped. There can be some cool stuff to be seen at the gunshow and some good deals to be found sometimes.

Why do I go to the gunshow, gives me something to do, stuff to look at that I dont see everyday. Also run into the same gunshow people, they live in the same town, shoot but I never see them outside the gunshow but we talk everytime we are there.

Also the gunshow is a Challenge, You paid $7 to get in here and you are not leaving until you find one good deal, and hen get the nerve to offer the guy selling something for 3 times what its worth a lowball price of half what its worth.

Good deals on ammo is the hardest thing to find there
