All raw materials are sky high. China and India are buying them. Go buy a cargo trailer and ask how much is was 4 years ago.

With 69 gr Sierra 0.224 MKs going for $22.90/100
AND With 155 gr Sierra 0.308 MKs going for $22.90/100 You have a hard time justifying that the current cost of ammo is in the materials costs department! |

OK let me start how all this BS started UMKAY. First we go to WAR, WE use up alot of the American surplus then the others start drying up, SELLERS see this and say wow we can make MONEY. So they JACK UP there PRICES and we still pay for it. There is a issue of supply of metals right now. OIL makes prices go up on EVERYTHING. Oil is first then your metals like GOLD go up and so on. It takes oil to move metals from earth. Here is example of price hikes. I went to local old hardware store here in Jax that sales ammo. They had a few bags of South African 7.62X51 for $35 a bag, I grabbed a few and then told Steve one of the guys that worked there that this stuff is going threw the roof on price, Later that day the price changed on the last two bags he had to $50.

$22.90 PER 100 EQUALS $229.00 PER 1000. That's a pretty good start on high ammo prices, without considering primers, brass, powdwe, labor or the amortized cost of a commercial reloader. |

I believe he was referring to the fact that the both of them were the same price, but obviously the .224 projo uses considerably less material.
In other words, that would tend to support the theory that price gouging is the bigger factor. |
