Correct me if I'm wrong but you have to be 21 to buy ammo online, and 18 to buy it in the store? What the hell is going on with that I'll be 20 in may, but either pay high prices for ammo around here, or get a friend to order it for me.

Not everybody requires you to be 21.  Check around some more, you'll find one.  MJD

Oh ok, I had checked with about 4 places and talked to a buddy that knows a little and guess I got the wrong idea. Thanks for the heads up

You could just get into reloading and then you wouldn't have to worry about being 21.  You can buy the components at 18 and then assemble them yourself.  That's what I did.  MJD

you dont really have to be 21 to order online, I do it all the time from sportsmansguide for pistol ammo. they say they require an adults signature but have always just left it at the door

What really sucked when I was a kid?  When I was 14 & 15 I used to buy .22 ammo at the little local store all summer long.  Then they changed the law so that when I was 16 & 17 I had have my parents or someone over 21 buy it.  It was a PIA because if you ran out in the afternoon, you might have to wait 2 whole days before is was convenient for mom or dad to get it for you!

What sucked when I was 18-21 is that store policies wouldn't sell .22lr to me even though it was for a rifle and legal.

Ammunitionstore has been good to me. Their policy is thumbs-up on sending rifle ammo to 18-20 year olds. Cheaperthandirt is alright. Their policy is clickthrough so you don't have to send any ID, just tell 'em your of age.

I buy through Cabellas without a problem, no age ont heir website. I'm 20 and have been doing it since I was 18, same with Sportsmans Guide, never had issues and I've bough a few K through each. Now, pistols on the other hand.. don't get me started on how I can be issued an M9 at 17 but can't buy my own till 21
