I was at the fun store this afternoon and they had 2 cases of Winchster ammo in the same style boxes as Q3131 and Q3131A.  The difference is these boxes were marked :Winchester .223 Remington 62gr FMJ.  Anyone know if this ammo has the SS109 bullet?  I asked the clerk at the shop and he said "No these are Full Metal Jackets".  Anyway the price tag on them was $5.99/box of 20.  Not going to buy any just wondering why they are so expensive.........

Oh Snap!

I hope it's not that crappy SS109 bullet.  It would be sweet if it were crimped and sealed!

There's another thread here where someone was asking about 62 gr WIN ammo.  It must be trickling out to retail in bulk.

I was at a local gunshow and they were selling the 62gr FMJ Winchester for $239/1000. Not sure what bullet it was.

The thing is the box was labeled ".223" and the headstamp just said WCC no NATO cross.

Sounds like a commercial load.  I'd bet the farm it's not SS109, which would be a plus in my book.

They've always had a WWB 62 FMJ.  But what you are reporting is sort of weird.  WCC marked ha?  And when you asked if it was a SS109 bullet I thought to myself no way.  But  I do also remember any of those WWB 62's I've shot have a very sharp and pointed nose.  And so does the SS109.  I wonder if it is the SS109 bullet.

I've seen that before and I just assumed it was a standard FMJ lead-core bullet. I saw this ammo recently at a Sportsman's Warehouse IIRC.

I just got a case of Win 62 grain in at work. It is not a M855, it is a 62 grain FMJ. Far better bullet for accuracy in my book. It is not sealed nor is the primer crimped. Federal has the same load that does have a crimped and sealed primer.

If someone who's bought some can pull a slug and cut the slug in half lengthwise, that'd be a great help.
