SA 308 ammo purchased today

I bought a pack of 308 today that is in a 140 round brown plastic sealed container. The guy said that it was South African. I probably paid too much for it but my AR10 will be here in a couple of days and I wanted to get to the range.

I will shoot BH or something like that for accuracy, i mostly want to stock up on SHTF ammo.

I am new to 308 (7.62x51) so what did I end up with? Good Ammo or Crap.

they also have some british 7.62x51 for about $5.00 per box of 20. Is this good ammo and is this a fair price. I might can get a discount by the case.

The SA is good ammo. I have about 2K of it, pretty good so far.

If you go to AIM surplus, they have it for $150/960rds. I bought two.

Shamefully, I paid about $34 for one battle pack, but it was there and I wanted to try it.

Do you know anything about the british ammo?

Don't feel bad powers, I paid $31.50 +tx and I think they're worth it.
The only other place I know that's less for S African is AIM, but still have to pay stiff shipping rate that almost equalizes the price.

Is that British Radway Green? If so, it's good stuff. Well worth $5/box to me. HTH

Its about the best mil-surp thats still available at this time,I buy from AIM .Only $21 in shipping= $175 for 960 rds = out to $25 a battlepack.

The stuff is GREAT. I can hit a steel swinger that is about 10X14 inches at over 600 yards with the stuff out of my AR10 carbine.

Good stuff, that SA ammo. Not one misfeed or dud since I've starting shooting it, which IIRC was 2000 rounds ago.

Definately the best surplus .308 out there right now. Definately stock up if you can - it won't last forever.

I have bought a lot of south african from aim and these guys are right, it is considered good stuff on many boards.

I have yet to see anything bad about it that I can recall.

As for the british stuff for 5 dollars a box, I agree with the person above who said radway green is worth that.

I took my AR10 to the range today, with some XM80 and SA stuff. In my gun, the SA was more accurate than the XM80, and it cycled better. At 100 yards, I put all 20 rounds through the 5 part of a standard target. This is with iron sights. Groups were pretty good.
XM80 wasn't bad either, but not quite as good.

SA is good to go. My AR10 A2 carbine eats it up, and the accuracy is not bad for surplus ammo.

They sell it for $24 per 140rd battle pack as well.
