So, I go into my local ffl shop today and I'm nosing around as usual and stumbled onto 2 cases of xm193. I know they were not there a week ago. I asked him where he'd gotten it since it is a little hard to find right now. He said it was some he had ordered a while ago and it just came in. He asked if I wanted some of it and I said I would take all of it. I don't know if it's just me but I have not been able to get this stuff anywhere. I guess that was my hitting the lottery since I don't play the real lotto. Yee Ha

Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for it?

I don't even shoot XM193.  I quit shooting that stuff a few years ago when Troy Boy told us it would not be around forever.  I have about 3-4k in my Stash!

...and Troy is correct. The Army is not buying M193 anymore according to their budget submittal documents.  The Air Force has small buys over the next several years, probably until they get rid of all their slow twist M16s. However, it was the Army, with their huge training ammo buys, that drove the 5.56mm rejects, resulting in XM193 and XM193PD ammo being available to the public.

Sorry it took so long to respond, had to go work. I paid 236.00 per K, he got it from Dixie, and the shop is in Sylvania, Ga. about half way between Augusta and Savannah. It is a very small town but this is a very nice shop with a large selection of firearms, clothes, hunting , camping, you name it. The name of the shop is Georgia Wilderness Outfitters. If anyone gets the chance, go in, you will be surprised.

236.00 seems to be right around the going rate now adays.

I'm just wondering why Mirage still has so much xm193 and ammoman runs out of it in a day or two after getting a shipment in.

I ordered 4k through Mirage for 252.00per k delivered a couple weeks ago and at that time he still had 54k of the stuff.

Who is Mirage and where are they located? My little shop also had some M855 bulk loose packs, with LC headstamps. He was actually getting more for the M855 than the XM193, go figure. I didn't need the M855 because I just ordered some from Sportsman Guide.

According to the post and response times there was only about an hour window of opportunity on that stuff. Good deal, I wish I had seen it earlier.

I still have 5k of the Fed XM193 and 1K of Q3131A sitting on the shelf.

I've mostly been shooting that "Major's" 75gn OTM Hornady stuff.  Have 3.5k of it to work through.

If I'm not mistaken, the Major is out of business.  Cherish what you have.

www.miragetechnologies.net/

There you go, you can't order online and have to call them but they're good to do business with.  There are plenty here that agree.

Do a search for Mirage and it will come up with some results.  I may just have to order another 4k if the word is out now!!  Although I remember reading a thread about why nobody was buying from him, had to do with price but that's the going rate now.

Dnag.  Hadn't heard that yet.  I've got a couple of ARs that like it too.

FMJ, can you tell any difference in the q3131,q3131A, and the xm193. Just curious, I have a very small amount of q3131 and I haven't shot it cause I didn't think I could get any more for a while.

I get much tighter groups with the XM193 in my guns. The Q3131 doesn't even come close. I shot a few Q3131A yesterday and it shot pretty close to the XM193. I don't like that strange bullet crimp that Winchester uses on their Q3131 and some of their other 55fmj thats not made by somebody else.

I got 1k of Fed XM193 from Mirage as well.

It ended up being Lot 103 (although the site says 106), and after sorting through half of the stash, about 100 of them were pretty dented up. Of those 100, about 50 were dinged to hell, and a handful dinged beyond use.

I'm not sure I'll be getting this stuff again.

Mine came in the 20 rd, boxes, I put 500 on stripper clips and I didn't notice any dings or dents but to be honest I didn't look too hard either. Maybe I should go back and look closer. Aa far as accuracy goes I never checked them. I usually shoot 50 yards max with the AR'S.                                    ETA I think mine is lot 083.

That's very unusual for XM193.  Could you post a pic of the rounds that dinged to hell and one of the beyond use rounds.  Thats pricy for unsatisfactory ammo.  Sorry to hear that.

Now all I have to do is convince my girlfriend that the $200 a case I paid isn't a bad priceThis was a week ago, the last case the gun shop had in stock, XM193, Lot 106.

Same here in that the site said Lot 106 but I got Lot 103 too.  I just shot 300rds of it this evening and had no problems.  I loaded all 300 of those rounds one by one in 10/ 30 round magazines and I noticed minor dents but nothing out of the ordinary.

So is the Army going to full-time M855?  I'm not going to fret over the loss of XM193 as long as M855 will continue in production.

Save you time.  You will never convince her that $200 wasn't $200 too much for ammo.

OUT of MY AR`S the Q3131 and Q3131A  shoots a bit TIGHTER than the XM193!

I feel  that since it shoots tighter out of MY AR`S  I will stick with it!

I have a Bandoliers Pack with 99 Q3131 wich seems the same as XM193 if not the 99 Q3131 is Hotter.

But thats my AR`s!

XM193 is good ammo and your rifle might like it better you will have to test it out yourself!
