i won't use A-merc or Maine Cartridge from experience. Magtech is fine for me, so far.

After this weekend: Brown Bear WAY underloaded 9mm wouldn't reliably cycle our handguns. When firing it felt like I had my Cienner .22 slide on my Glock. I won't shoot any remanufactured ammo from unknown sources. So the only remanufactured I will shoot is Black Hills, everything else is new production. |

PMC has never worked in my guns. I am always getting FTEs.

Magtech for me. In both 9mm and 40sw I had several FTF and feed issues. Bad primers. Also a FTE with the .40 when a case split. No damage, but the case was stuck halfway in the chamber.
PMC and UMC functioned flawlessly, and seemed to have the exact same exact bullets (180 grain FMJ .40/124 grain FMJ 9mm). I've had decent luck with the newer Wolf, though I prefer the Silver Bear in my SKS. |

Dear god, I forgot that one. I got about 200 rounds of Indian 308 when I bought my AR10. Upon inspection 25% are unsuitable. Bullets crooked in the case were the #1 reason to toss. |

I avoid gunshow reloads, Amerc, and Olympic. Never really had any problems with stuff like Wolf, Radway Green, or Federal PD

Basically I avoid anything that I've read enough bad crap about on this forum, i.e. Indian 7.62, American Ammunition et al. I also avoid gun show reloads.

There is a company in Dallas that is actualy known for their reloads to be reliable and I pick up 1k every time I get the chance to at the show. Nothing wrong with reloads at th fun show if its from a reputable souce.

Based upon what I have read, seen, and heard about, the following should be avoided at all cost:
A-merc Maine Cartridge Olympic Based upon personal experience, I would advised to avoid "Hirtenberger 9mm +P+" unless you have a firearm that can handle it.  Due to the softness of the bullet material, I had feeding problems while trying to chamber a round. Once a round had been chamber one or two times, I had to throw it away, because it just would not chamber properly EVER again.  Plus I had to have my Colt "All-American" 2000 9mm handgun overhauled by Colt custom shop (because there are not any replacement parts in the supply system to repair it).

Could have been the lot but Winchester Q3131. Every shot required me to pull the charging handle to reload another one.

How do I tell? What's weird is I went into the range, bought 3 boxes of 20. Had problems with all of them. Then another AR guy comes in a half hour later with a RRA carbine and shoots the stuff flawlessly. Unless , since I have crappy luck, the first 3 boxes were crap :p Might have something to do with my gun being brand new, or just not liking it for some reason. It's chambered for 5.56mm. |

Magtec brass in 9mm is the worst. I had to cull about 200 out of 2,000 9mm brass last time I reloaded 9.

Silver Bear for getting stuck in my chamber/barrel. Olympic .223. Zhukov, which gun shows would you attend, being from Texas? There is a guy who sells reloads at Houston area gunshows. Right now he sells a 75gr load that has to be loaded to 5.56 load specs and it is the most accurate ammo in my carbine. I'd give the name, but don't want to look like I'd advertizing, plus I want some to be left at the next gunshow...

The lot is marked on each box. If it's not on the outside it should be marked on an inside flap
Not lubricated properly? Bad Magazines? Bad gas tube? Bad gas port? Start a thread and perhaps we can troubleshoot it. |

I should have taken pictures. The 147gr 9mm bullet looked like a curvy woman. Big at the top and bottom and thin in the middle. Not one of the brass would fit in the Dillon chamber check. I didn't know it was magtec until I looked the headstamp up on the net. Then I hand sorted about 2k 9mm brass. |

I have only ever used:
XM193 XM855 AE WWB Wolf UMC Hornady Remanufactured IMI M193 from the early 80's the IMI is the only ammo I have ever had any problems with and I just think it was a bad lot (loaded extremely hot) Ammo I have never shot and probably never will is : UltraMax Any non factory reloads |

BEcause of what I have read here:
Ultramax "PD" ammo Olympic Because of personal experience: Silver Bear 9mm (I squibbed a round in a fellow member's FA MP5...I felt like serious crap after that) PMP .223, the brass was super soft and left shavings all over the inside of my gun and jammed up the ejector, other brass ammo did not. A-Merc - I had problems with them 10 years ago, and from what I have seen, they ain't improved at all. PMC 9mm 115 FMJ....dirtier than Wolf, and produces enough smoke to impede vision. I think they load it with black powder. PMC .44 mag...out of like 500 rounds fired I have had 10 or so that were duds. PMP 9mm multiple dud rounds per case. Gunshow reloads/ reloads of suspect origins. |

Wolf (9mm kaboom and failure to feed in all of my AR's) Olympic (failure to feed in all of my AR's) Silver Bear (failure to feed in all of my AR's) I own a stock Armalite and RRA as well as homebuilt Recce, 20" Retro and lwt. carbine, so I am hesitant to pin the blame on the rifle instead of the ammo. |

no more re-loads for me, unless I do it.
I bought some of that "dallas reloads" and about 30% had huge split case necks afer firing them, all about 1/4 inch long. |

HUH????????? Are you kidding? I've reloaded tens of thousands of MagTech 9mm brass and never had any problems with it. Same goes for their .45 stuff. Almost every police department that shoots and qualifies at the range where I shoot uses MagTech ammo and they leave their brass.....which I pick up.....all once fired. The stuff reloads like a dream in a Dillon press. Did you get a bad lot or something? What is it that you find so bad about it? Culling out deformed or dented brass is par for the course in reloading and I find them in every brand and caliber. You had better check you dies and settings.....that hour glass shape is perfectly acceptable in reloads and has never hindered the performance of any of my ammo. I guage all my ammo through a Dillon guage for use in subguns and I may get one in 3000 that doesn't go and that is usually a piece of brass that has been missed during inspection and was fired in a really unsupported chamber and buldged at the base. |

Ultramax Olympic (greek) Magtech Independence ammo Maine Cart. AMERC any commercial reloads (except Black Hills) Indian and Paki 7.62x51 Wolf .308 anything brown bear Wolf M193 (for now, until they fix it) anything PD anything shipped loose I would reconsider the last two, if there was nothing else, and I could inspect each round) |

Now that is BAD! Black Hills BLUE BOX 77gr. loaded in WIN Brass ONLY gives my LMT 14.5 a hard time? Hard to eject manually? But does feed and ejects when shooting! I find that very odd the the Lake City Brass/77gr. doesnt share that Problem? |
