I bought a box of 5.56 mm BALL M193 Malaysia ammo (one 20 round box). The lot # is 38 MAL 10-81 (stamped on the box is 31 OCT 1981). The ammo looks almost identical to Win Q3131A in its appearance (very shinny and clean). It looks to me like the primer is sealed but I really can't tell if the bullet is seald or not. The head stamp on the bullet says 5.56 MAL 10-81. Can anyone tell me anything about this ammo. Is it safe to shoot. Does it fragment like Q3131A and XM193. Any info will help thanks.

I bought some boxes of it years ago and still have quite a few. Mine is marked 3-83 and it does kind of resemble Q3131 in the way the bullet is crimped. It shoot about the same to me.

have a few boxes marked 2-83, no complaints, and the posts on this M193 have been generally favorable, would have no hesitation in using it for practice in a 5.56 rifle. It does seem to be a full-powered cartridge, ...don't have the velocity specs for it, ....seem to recall someone else posting it as a "fast" 5.56 a little on the dirty side, but in the big picture, good stuff.

I bought a sealed can at my gunsmith's shop for about the price of the XM193 PD ammo.  That's the most I think you should have to pay for it(a little less than current price of PD ammo).  I tried a few rounds and felt power and speed pulsing through my Bushy.  Accuracy not up to Fed xm193 boxed in my rifles.  I will try to save mine for winter shooting.  It will help my cruddy actions function in cold temps when Wolf is a problem for squeaky clean rifles.

STOP!! Don't shoot it!!! It will blow up your gun and you will die!! Send it to me and I will get it to the Haz-mat dump near my house.
Well, ok. It's damn good ammo. I went through 2 or 3K back when it was around.
It is on the hot side. I was told that Winchester set up the plant. The only problem I have seen was a couple of blown primers, but this was during 100* heat.

The main thing Im wanting to know is if it fragments like XM193 and Q3131. Thanks.

It should tumble well with that velocity.

It is m193 ammo. If I remember correct @3200 out of a 16" gun. It will fragment.
