It has a very good reputation.  Do a search.

Sounds good so far.

FALARAK, I did a search-came up with nothing, plus the search feature for non-team members only
searches up to 30 days.

VLODPG-I would but it was the only can in the gun shop. I wasn't even there to buy ammo, but My eyes saw the can and the price and i had to grab it!

I'm working my way through a case of it. It's nice and hot but not very accurate out of my rifles.

Sounds like an extremely good reason to sign up and contribute $20 to the site.

All the Malaysian stuff I've fired in .223 has that very strong ammonia smell. It'll bring tears to your eyes.  It shoots good though.

Some of it smells like piss but it works well for me. I got 3,000 rounds for $300, from a friend.

I picked up 350 rounds of it back in December, and that was all that the store had.  Ammo shoots well through a variety of rifles, and is reasonably accurate.  Here is some chrono results I've gotten with the ammo:

Malaysian M193, '84 Head stamp (16.5" bbl)  ***  Dec '05, 45*F  ***
3074 3086 3065 3058
avg: 3071
SD: 12.09
med: 3069.5

Malaysian M193, '84 Head stamp (22" bbl)
3276 3292 3252
avg: 3273
SD: 20
med: 3276

18" Armalite DCM barrel  ***Feb '06, 65*F ***

Malaysian M193 '84     3236  3212  3226  3220  3252
Avg:  3229      SD:  15.4

Accuracy was around 1.75-2" @ 100 yards

Just found a can with 820 rounds of Malaysian 5.56 M-193, Lot 60, dated 9-82 at my moms house.  It is boxed up in white boxes.  Bought it 15+ years ago at a gun show for my mini-14.  Got rid of the mini-14 and bought an AR last year so I was pleasantly suprised to find the ammo can again.

I have a few hundered rounds left of Lot 10 3-83. Its pretty good stuff but haven't checked it for accuracy lately. Its seemed pretty hot.

Thanks for all the replies, Fellas.

Well, there goes 820 rds of Malaysian M193 '81 lot 37.
All were clean and bright, with a few having very slight tarnish(nothing like Guatamalen), and
a smell not unlike that of an Oriental grocery store.

On 2 different occasions:
Weapons-BFI M4gery 14.5" 1/9 twist bbl/Aimpoint ML2, RRA M4gery 16" 1/9 twist heavy bbl./Eotech 552, RRA M4gery 16" lightweight profile 1/9 twist bbl./Aimpoint M68 CCO.

I experienced NO functional failures what so ever.

I don't have a chrono, but the ammo was nice and hot as when shot side to side with XM193.

Accuracy was OK. Not nearly as good as XM193 or The excellent Winny .223 Israeli Value pack. From a bench rest groups were around .5"-3"s in 5 round groups @ 50 yards. Under the same conditions @ 100 I was landing 3"-7" 5 round groups. Groups opened up towards the latter a bit during the second day with 6-8 MPH winds.

The stench was slightly sharper than that of comparable M193 rounds, however I was pleasently surprised it left less carbon residue and gunk than XM193 or WWB. Clean up was pretty easy.

I would definetly buy more if it ever became available and the price was right. Being true M193 albiet a bit old, with slightly less accuracy then domestic XM193, I also wouldn't hesitate to use it for whatever SHTF reasons.
