I was counting my boxes today and I have about 6500 rounds of Q3131 and 3131A and another 3600 rounds of 855.  What I'm wondering is its in the boxes still in a heated shop but I'm thinking it needs to go into ammo can.  Should I put it in the cans in boxes or loose?  How many eounds can a 50 cal box hold?  And what tpe of dessicant?  hould I put it up in strippers?
Thanks,
Mike

Nothing wrong with the cases they came in. Anything else is a waste of money that could be spent on more ammo.

First of all, I'm jealous.  12000 rounds of ammo?  Damn!!!

Because of the cost of those ammo cans, you might want to look into vacuum-sealing those cases instead.  The tools and materials aren't that expensive, and they can be used all over the house.

Just an idea.  They probably don't need any more protection.

Good ol' green ammo cans is the way to go. The only ammo I don't have in cans is my stash of Portuguese 7.62 ammo. I have 3,000 rounds of it with each case in its original wooden crate.

What a fool I was. I sold 5k Q3131A in ammo cans just before I moved to FL. I needed to make some room. I figured... I could always get more.

You just want it sealed from moisture, and kept in a location where temp doesnt get too extremely hot, or change temp on a rapid basis.

Ammo cans are how I do it... I store mine in the house.  I was going to move a bunch to the garage.... but Texas summers are really hot.  I pick up ammo cans at the gun show.

I have no use for stripper clips.  Keep enough loaded mags for what you need, and the rest, boxed in ammo cans.  People that dream of the end of the world, loading mags from strippers, firing as fast as they can.... watch too many movies.

Dry and stable temps. Mine is stored on 2x4s in ammo cans [unless it's in a sealed airtight container or battlepack]. The temp varies from 60F in the winter to 68F in the summer. Very stable. You don't want to know how much I have. However, it is more then 2 rounds.

I seperate all my ammo.

Brass goes in buckets by the press

Bullets go into targets and backstops

It's the powder I can't seem to figure out where it goes.
