I see Ammo Man has the green tip marked XM855PD.  On the boxes, it is marked "for training use only"

I am assuing that this is "seconds" ammo with some defect.  ( I think I read somewhere all XM ammo is)  Does anyone know specifically what is wrong with this ammo?  Is it minor things like minor dents in the cases or spotty primer sealing , or is it something more serious like failure to fire or incorrect charge weights etc?

Any help is appreciated.

The defects vary.  It can be small issues like a lack of primer sealer or tiny dents, or more serious issues like split necks, extreme bullet setback, large dents, deformed bullets, etc.  I have shot 750 rounds without issue though.  The XM855PD seems to be alright and is not nearly as bad as the XM193PD.

let's see...take your choice:

pd = pretty dented
pd = propellant deficient
pd = poorly done
pd =  ...and on and on...

It's not firsts
It's not even seconds

Examine each one when loading
And don't, I repeat DON'T use it when your life depends on it.
